U-20 FILM EXTRACT: January 2009

20th January 08
We decided in our lesson to decide upon our shots and how we would act them. whether to use a script or to improvise the words in each shot. Firstly we decided that we wouldn't use too much speech in our shots so that it would not be a problem when editing to make the sound clearer. Also speech sometimes distracts the viewer from the main issue in the film. During the lesson we went into the corridor and practiced a little so we knew our parts a little better.

In that lesson we also decided on costumes, we thought we should all be dressed very differently, one in a dress, one in a skirt and the other in jeans. This is because we were shooting in the dark and it would help the audience easily tell the characters apart. Another important aspect of the costumes was the colour, the outfits should all be quite bright so you can see them in the dark.

Arranging an appropriate film day/date/time
We have been trying to organize some dates for filming the film and also choosing appropriate locations.
We need to make sure that it is dark, so we will be filming from about 4 o'clock onwards. We have an idea of location but we need to find suitable areas within it. In mind is Cherry Hinton Hall, which is a desolate woods/park. It is proving hard to organize the correct day for all the group as we all have other arrangements, ie driving lessons and work.
As there are just the two of us in the discussion today, Aliss and Alice have agreed on filming on Tuesday 27th of January...this is just a thought and needs to be confirmed by Esther and Annabella.
Our footage needs to be in by 29th of January...the 27th is our only convenient date.

with love for now x x x

This is a clip of the film Wolf Creek. The camera flicks from different angles quite frequently and is sometimes quite shaky, i think this adds more fear to the scene. In the middle of the sequence i like that you don't see the old man get shot, but it zooms slightly on the blood splattered and trickling down the window. We see a small section of the clip through a scope, showing us the situation through the killer's eyes. In the scene the car is filmed from a distance, head on as it gets closer to you and the victim.

ALISS AND ANNABELLA. ( SUPERBAD )
this is our film clip that we are going to analyze.

The setting is based in a crowded house at the time of of house party, there are lots of drunk teenage students dancing, socialising and drinking and there is very loud music playing in the background.. The main character in the scene acts his part perfectly to the audience, you almost feel as if you can relate to him. He seems very shy and cautious to get to know people at the beginning of the scene.
The director choose the costumes well as the characters looked like average students, the audience could imagine being in their shoes.

The only sound heard is that of the cd player that is very loud and changes from loud heavy drum and base music to slow r and b music. This sets the mood for the dance and the main part of the scene, this contrasts with what happens in the scene.

Basic Synopsis of Our film...
The main character in this film is a middle aged serial rapist/killer. He has been on a permanent killing spree for 12 consistent years, but has never been caught until the murder of a group of teen college friends. The film contains a selection of his murders, amongst flash backs of his early life which give insight into why he has become a monster.

Our scene......
The scene we have chosen to make from our film shows the last of his killings leading to his arrest.

The crew
Alice
Aliss
Annabella
Esther

I am going to be the director of our crew.I felt I would be good at this because i like to have my voice heard. I am not a bossy person but I don't like to see people slacking so i push people for the goodness of the crew. The director needs not to be afraid of anyone else, however they must listen to others opinions for the sake of the crew. Constructive criticism is welcome.
Love Aliss..... <3 x x x

I am the most important out of the crew i am the editor. The editor is important because they need produce the final product. They have to be able to work the Mac's so i have a qualification in ICT GCSE

I am the camera woman
